Getting started
What does the AI receptionist do?
It answers calls, uses your business information, captures messages, and can book against a connected calendar. Your handoff instructions determine which calls need your team.
How is my assistant set up?
Feed the AI Assistant Builder your SOPs, website information, and business details. It interviews you and asks follow-up questions to fill gaps. You supply and review the operating instructions; Roscoe provides support as needed.
Does Roscoe personally build every assistant?
No. The AI Assistant Builder handles the setup process using your information and interview answers. Roscoe is the secondary support contact, not the hands-on builder for every account.
What should I prepare?
Your services, service area, business hours, common questions, booking preferences, and handoff rules. Existing SOPs and documents give the Builder a useful starting point.
Can I keep my number?
Yes. Forward calls from your existing number to the provisioned receptionist number. Forwarding carries calls, not texts, and can be stopped through your carrier.
Calls & coverage
Can it book appointments?
With a connected calendar, the phone agent checks availability and records a booking only when the action succeeds. If a time cannot be confirmed, it captures a callback request.
What happens after a call?
Call summaries and transcripts are available in email and the dashboard. Supported connected team channels can receive summaries; the full transcript stays in email and the dashboard.
Can it handle urgent calls?
Configure the rules that bring urgent calls to your team. Emergency Dispatch is included with Business Texting, available on Growth and Scale. It requires carrier approval, consent, and an activated roster.
Does it support English and Spanish?
Yes. The voice receptionist supports English and Spanish, including switching languages during a call.
Is it available outside the United States?
The AI receptionist is for US businesses and uses a US number. Website chat does not require a phone number; its requirements are separate.
Plans & billing
What are the receptionist prices?
Essential is $99/month for 400 minutes. Growth is $199/month for 1,000 minutes. Scale is $349/month for 2,000 minutes. Business Texting is a separate $50 monthly purchase on Growth or Scale.
How does the free trial work?
Essential has a 7-day trial with up to 400 voice minutes and no SMS. It starts immediately and requires a card. It converts to $99/month unless canceled before it ends. Growth and Scale have no trial and bill immediately.
How are minutes counted?
From connect to disconnect in 15-second blocks, rounded up. Monthly allowances reset each billing period and do not roll over. Filtered spam is excluded from the allowance.
What if I use all my minutes?
Overage is off by default. You can upgrade or enable overage at $0.20/minute on Essential or Growth and $0.10/minute on Scale. With overage off, call handling may pause when the allowance runs out.
Are Forms and Front Desk included?
Every paid receptionist plan includes Forms Scale and Front Desk Scale. The free website chat tier includes 1,000 answered messages a month and is available for dashboard activation; it is not switched on automatically.
Texting & workflows
Can Essential add Business Texting?
No. Business Texting is available on Growth and Scale for $50/month. Growth receives 2,000 pooled segments; Scale receives 4,000. Essential cannot add it, and the free trial remains voice-only.
Can the texting assistant book or quote?
No. It can answer from business facts, but has no calendar or booking tools and must not quote prices or promise appointment times. A configured workflow can send a confirmation produced by a successful booking.
What must happen before texts send?
Carrier registration must clear, required consent must be in place, and the service must be activated. The workflows included with Business Texting also need their own configuration and activation.
What counts as a text segment?
Inbound and outbound SMS share a pooled allowance. Long or differently encoded messages can use multiple carrier segments. Text overage is off by default; if enabled, it is $0.025/segment, subject to carrier limits.
Are advanced workflows included on Essential?
Job Briefs, Client Intake, Emergency Dispatch, and No-Show Shield are included with Business Texting, sold separately on Growth and Scale. Each needs setup and activation. Essential covers the core voice receptionist.
Are Google review replies available?
Not yet. Website chat and its Review Requests capability are distinct from replying to reviews already posted. Google review replies are not switched on.
